1.Differentiate between hardware and software?
Answer: Hardware is the physical parts of a computer like a keyboard and mouse. Software is the programs or apps that run on the hardware, like games or Word. Hardware is what you can touch, and software is what you use on the screen.
2. Define Operating System. List out 4 major functions.
Answer: An operating system is the main software that helps the computer work. It manages apps, files, memory, and hardware like printers. Examples are Windows and Android. It helps you open apps and use your computer.
3. Define data and information.
Answer: Data is raw facts, like numbers or words. Information is when you organize that data to make it useful. For example, “30, 40” is data, but “The average is 35” is information. Data becomes information after it’s processed.
4. What is the importance of computer networks?
Answer: Computer networks let computers connect and share files, internet, and devices like printers. They help people communicate and work together easily. Without networks, the internet wouldn’t work.
5. What is e-commerce?
Answer: E-commerce means buying and selling things online. Websites like Amazon or Flipkart are examples. It makes shopping easy because you don’t need to go to a store.
6. Differentiate between primary key and foreign key.
Answer: A primary key is a unique ID for each record in a table, like a roll number. A foreign key links two tables together. It helps organize and connect data in a database.
7. What do you mean by data mart?
Answer: A data mart is a smaller section of a big database. It focuses on one topic, like sales or marketing. It makes finding specific data easier.
8. What is Electronic Data Interchange (EDI)?
Answer: EDI is the digital exchange of business documents, like sending orders or invoices online. It saves time and avoids paper. For example, companies use it to send purchase orders.
9. Define the term E-payment?
Answer: E-payment means paying money online, like using a credit card or apps like PayPal. It’s fast and lets you shop or pay bills from home.
10. What is PMS?
Answer: PMS can mean a system for managing projects or hotels. In projects, it tracks tasks and deadlines. In hotels, it helps manage bookings and customer information.

What does the term Information Technology really mean? Information Technology is that technology by which the information is processed, communicated, exhibited, and retrieved in a fast, error-free, and proper way. Information Technology is a technology in which telecommunication computer technologies work together to provide information.
Today’s world is the world of information and telecommunication. Everyday new technology and inventions are being made in the area of information, processing, and traveling. There is hardly any area which had not been affected by this. Due to all this, the world distance sound ridiculous in the present day context.
The whole world has become a small place today. Any information can be exchanged by people in seconds and that too, in an effective way without any loss of data while it is being processed. On one hand, all these different ways of telecommunication and information exchange have highlighted the necessity for multipurpose technology and ease of information access, and on the other hand, the easy access and use of it has boosted the need for information exchange.
All this has been possible through information technology like telephone, fax, text, computers, internet, email, photocopier, printer, scanner, cellular phone, pagers, videophone, digital camera, multimedia, etc.
These technologies are becoming a part and parcel of our lives and are transforming lifestyle and habits of people all over the world.
The use of computers has increased by leaps and bounds worldwide. Internet and multimedia have now become playthings for children. The internet has revolutionized every field of the world. The government has allowed private companies to provide internet services to people in order to boost up information technology.
The internet has put an unprecedented amount of buying and selling power in the hands of all those within a keystroke distance of a computer. Never in the history of commerce have solitary buyers and sellers been able to engage so effortlessly in commerce on all points whether one is a scrap dealer or a collector with an obsession for antiques, the internet is a solution.
Digital technology is playing a vital role in our day-to-day life. In supermarkets, it helps for faster processing of billings or any other processing. In the field of agriculture, a digital moisture meter checks the moisture in the soil and tells when harvesting should start. For people who are suffering from hearing loss, digital technology is of great help. It processes sounds that reduce noise, improves clarity of speech, and controls unwanted loudness.
